Apogromia-spec.
Apogromia spec., the same shell, left as seen through a 40X objective, giving the impression of a distinct neck with a collar, and right: photographed through a 100X oil immersion; the shell has an artifact or hole in the shell wall. Shell 11.7 µm long, surrounded by a thick layer of unknown material.

Apogromia spec.

Diagnosis: Shell hyaline, small, pyriform or retort-shaped,double-sided symmetrically, with one side fastened to the substrate; outline sometimes slightly irregular. Shell without a distinct neck, but tapering towards the aperture. Pseudopodia granular, very thin, branching and sometimes anastomosing.

Dimensions: My measurement: 11.7 µm (n=1).

Ecology: freshwater; peat bogs, the Netherlands.
