Diagnosis:  The general aspect is that of the type species. To distinguish this variety, you have to look at the contour of the test, which is not always easy. In the type, the pseudostome is flat, while in the variety, it is wavy and the theca is relatively rich in large sticks that appear to be eroded diatoms.

Dimensions: Test diameter 35 µm, height 40-45 µm, pseudostome 20 um, oral depth 5-8 µm.

Ecology: Freshwater, between wet mosses in lakes and ponds. Haute Savoi, France.

Remarks: Difficult to specify, as it is almost certain that previous authors, not having had the opportunity to see similar tests in profile, could not distinguish this variety.
