Den Treek Amersfoort
This small shallow ditch proved to be a good sample location!

Landgoed Den Treek-Henschoten

This site is a vast country estate, but accessible for recreation. It is located south of the town of Amersfoort, close to the village of Leusden, in the central area of the Netherlands. It consists mainly of woodland with some heather. My samples come from a small shallow ditch at the edge of a nature reserve which is closed for public. It has a sandy bottom and a thick layer of sediment.

Some interesting species which are found here:

  • Clathrulina elegans
  • Clypeolina marginata
  • Lecythium spinosum
  • Pelomyxa flava
  • Pelomyxa corona
  • Trichamoeba sinuosa
  • Paulinella chromatophora
  • Arcella crenulata
  • Difflugia lanceolata
  • Cucurbitella mespiliformis
