Deuteramoeba spec.
Diagnosis: form polypodial; locomotive cell c. 170 µm in length; pseudopodia without ridges; anterior hyaline caps frequently fill with advancing granuloplasm; posterior morulate uroid; cytoplasm with numerous rod-like or bipyramidal crystals; nucleus ovoid with a central cluster of nucleolar material in a few granular pieces.
Dimensions: one specimen: about 170 µm in locomotion; nucleus 26 µm (n=1).
Ecology: BC, Canada
Remarks: I found this species between photomicrographs taken by Yana Eglit. She observed only one specimen, which is however so characteristic, that I think it’s a new, undescribed, species.
