Difflugia compressa (Leidy, 1879) Gauthier-Lièvre et Thomas, 1958

Diagnosis: Test shrub-shaped, laterally compressed, with distinct short neck, covered with very large and tightly laid mineral grains, which decrease in the direction of the pseudostome. Pseudostome, very small, 1/3-1/4 of the greatest width of the shell.

Dimensions: Length 150-400 µm, width 110-170 µm, thickness 20-35 µm, pseudostome diameter 20-50 µm.

Ecology: Freshwater.

Variety:

D. compressa africana Gauthier-Lièvre et Thomas, 1958.
It differs from the typical form in larger sizes.
Length 220-280 µm, width 189-249 µm, thickness 136-155 µm, pseudostome diameter 55-58 µm.
