Difflugia minuta
Difflugia minuta, from Rampi, 1950

Difflugia minuta  Rampi, 1950

Diagnosis: Test spherical, entirely covered with mineral grains. Pseudostome well defined by a number of mineral grains regularly arranged around the pseudostome. It differs from Difflugia globulosa not only for its smaller size but also for its almost spherical shape.

Dimensions: Length 53 µm, width 48 µm.

Ecology: Freshwater. From sediment of Lake Alberghi.

D. minuta var. grandis, after Gauthier-Lièvre et Thomas, 1958 (l) and var. minor, after Godeanu, 1972 (r)

Difflugia minuta var. grandis  Gauthier-Lièvre et Thomas, 1958

As the type, but twice so large. Test embedded with large mineral grains. Pseudostome always small, less than ¼ of its diameter.
Length 100-130 µm; width 120-125 µm; pseudostome 20-28 µm.
Freshwater. Africa, Algeria.

Difflugia minuta var. minor  Godeanu, 1972

Test ovoid, colorless, with irregular contour because of the mineral grains. Pseudostome circular.
Length 28-35 µm; width 17-20 µm; pseudostome 8-10 µm.
Freshwater, sediment of a river. Romania.
