Difflugia soudanensis Gauthier-Lièvre et Thomas, 1958

Diagnosis: Test compressed, bulbous, resembling a sugar beet, with a well-differentiated neck; pseudostome circular. In front view, the fundus narrows abruptly and turns into a hollow, more or less long horn. Test covered with exogenous material. Cytoplasm, pseudopodia and nucleus not observed.

Dimensions: Height 175-182 µm; width 120-130 µm; thickness 85-90 µm; length of the horn: 30-45 µm; pseudostome: 35-40 µm.

Ecology: Freshwater, Africa.

Remarks: According to Gauthier-Lièvre et Thomas, 1958, D. soudanensis offers a great resemblance to D. kempnyi, whose dimensions are about the same, which is not compressed.
