Ellipsopyxis pauliani

E. regularis - from Bonnet, 1965

Genus Ellipsopyxella Bonnet, 1975

Diagnosis: Test resembles Geopyxella but with biaxial symmetry. In contrast to Ellipsopyxis the aperture is circular, not or only very weakly invaginated. During resting phases the pseudostome is closed by a mucous diaphragm. The test is composed of relatively flat mineral particles (crystalline quartz) giving a smooth surface, ventral sole thicker than the rest of the shell; pseudostome without organic lip.

Type species: Ellipsopyxella regularis Bonnet, 1975.

Ecology: Found in grassland soils. Geographic distribution: Ivory-Coast, French Guyana.
