Euglypha ciliata (Ehrenberg, 1848)

Diagnosis: shell oviform, compressed, in cross-section elliptical; aperture circular; aperture bordered by dentated scales; body-scales oval; nucleus ovular, large with small nucleoli scattered throughout the nucleoplasm. Plasma and filopodia normal.

Dimensions: literature 60-100 µm.

Ecology: Sphagnum and other mosses, also in sediments and between waterplants.

Remarks: Variable species.
