Diagnosis: Test ovoid with a dark violet color, laterally compressed with an oval aperture and an internally thickened border.

Diagnosis: Test ovoid with a dark violet color, laterally compressed with an oval aperture and an internally thickened border.

Dimensions: 135-180 µm long; my measurements 156-181 µm.

Ecology: Sphagnum and peat bogs, forest soils. Rare.

Remarks: This species resembles at first sight Heleopera amethystea, but can be distinguished by its oval aperture, while Heleopera amethystea has a slit-like aperture.
