Genus Clathrulina Cienkowski, 1867

Diagnosis: Cell surrounded by a stalked spherical test with numerous openings for the axopodia. Axopodia with few microtubuli and kinetocysts, often branching. Zoospores with two flagellae.

Type species: C. elegans Cienkowski, 1867

Ecology: Sphagnum swamps and among aquatic plants in ponds; locally common.
