Genus Plagiopyxis Penard, 1910

Diagnosis: Shell in ventral view circular or broad oval, in lateral view more or less hemispherical with a flat ventral face; dorsal apertural lip somewhat incurved usually hiding the aperture; aperture a subterminal, elongated slit, perpendicular to long axis of the shell. Surface of shell covered with mineral particles.

Habitat: Almost all species live exclusively in soil or dry mosses (e.g. on trees). Most common species is Plagiopyxis declivis Bonnet & Thomas, 1955.

Remarks: Twenty-two known species.
