Vampyrella lateritia
Gobiella – trophozoit

Gobiella borealis Cienkowski, 1881

This is a large species which makes holes in algal cells by removing a disk of cell wall material. This is quite different from the destruction of cell walls by Vampyrella lateritia.

Gobiella
Vampyrella lateritia
A very large cyst, 800 µm long!
Vampyrella lateritia
The arrow points to a disk in an empty cyst, that was removed from the cell wall, when the cell was opened by the vampyrellid
Vampyrella lateritia
A very long stretched Gobiella, ca. 300 µm long
Vampyrella lateritia
Gobiella, empty cyst with the disk that was removed from the cell wall
Vampyrella lateritia
Gobiella, cyst
Vampyrella lateritia
