Gocevia species?

Diagnosis: Test or membrane shaped lik a hat, flat with a central dome, brown-yellow, covering the cytoplasm of the cell; outer layer consists of organic debris. Nucleus couldn’t be observed, nor any inner membrane as is typical for Diplochlamys. Size c. 100 µm in diameter. Extremely slow; many small slow moving digipodia.

Ecology: mosses on tree, soil.

Remarks: I’m not sure this is a Gocevia species. It also resembles Diplochlamys, but it doesn’t show any inner membrane as is typical for that genus. It moves extremely slow and when I managed to turn it over it started to close its covering very slowly (see imgage at the right top corner). Maybe it’s a Gocevia species.

Arrows indicate two fusing contractile vacuoles.
Living specimen, photomicrograph Ernst Hippe, Germany (Probably a Gocevia or Diplochlamys species).
