Landgoed Groeneveld – Baarn

This site was originally a country estate, but now it is a vast nature reserve, called Landgoed Groeneveld, located between the towns of Hilversum and Baarn, in the central area of the Netherlands. It consists mainly of woodland alternated with meadows. My samples come from a crescent shaped pond, with a sandy bottom and a thin layer of sediments.

The pond has a rich population of Difflugia tuberculata and Netzelia oviformis. Some interesting species which are found here:

  • Lecythium armatus
  • Raphidiophrys elegans
  • Arcella mitrata
  • Arcella crenulata
  • Biomyxa vagans
  • Pelomyxa corona
  • Metachaos spec.
  • Cyclopyxis intermedia
  • Zivkovicia spectabilis
  • Polychaos dubium
  • Frenzelina reniformis
  • Limnofila spec.
  • Hedriocystis brachipous
  • Difflugia nodosa
