Diagnosis: Cell surrounded by a non-silicious stalked shell; shell hyaline, colorless, with small holes, pores, through which non-branching axopodia radiate; stalk not always distinct, at one species never observed; central nucleus; Schwärmer observed at two species, with one or two flagella.
