Hyalosphenia platystoma West, 1903

Diagnosis: Test broadly elliptical or ovoid, strongly compressed, with a slit-like pseudostome which is almost as broad as the width of the test.

Dimensions: c. 45 µm.

Ecology: Very rare, between sediment of oligotrophic and mesotrophic water types.
