Genus Certesella Loeblich & Tappan, 1961


Diagnosis: Shell flask-shaped, compressed, neck with parallel sides, organic apertural rim. In broad view on each side 2 pores in depressions connected by an internal tube as in Porosia bigibbosa. Neck with 1 or 2 internal organic thickenings and rows of teeth at both sides. Scanning electron microscopy reveals surface to be smooth. Shell composed of collected euglyphid idiosomes in an unstructured cement, transparent.

Type species: Certesella martiali (Certes, 1889)

Three species.


Ecology: Sphagnum. Restricted to the southern hemisphere.
