Kromme Rade – Kortenhoef

This site is a nature reserve, called Het Hol, west of the town of Hilversum, in the central area of the Netherlands. It consists of peatland and meadows, interspersed with water and brook forest. Originally this area was one large fresh water marsh, but since medieval times peat has been mined here and this activity shaped the landscape. The reserve itself isn’t accessible, but along the reserve is an old path, called Kromme Rade. Along this path are some locations where you can take samples.

My samples come from three locations:
A – a peatland;
B – a ditch;
C – a ditch.
