Leptophrys spec.

Leptophrys elegans

Leptophrys elegans Hertwig & Lesser, 1874

The photomicrographs on this page are from several specimen which multiplied rapidly in a moist chamber slide from a sample from the Bert Bospad, the Netherlands. All specimens mainly fed on Cosmarium cucurbita, but also diatoms were preyed. Some specimens formed a digestive cyst with one Cosmarium, others ingested up to 10.
