L. carinata. The two small drawings to the left are after Playfair, 1917, the others after Thomas and Gauthier-Lièvre, 1959.

Lesquereusia carinata Playfair, 1917

Diagnosis: Test embedded with endogenous or reworked regular elements, well joined, in the form of small rounded cushions (cushion-like pellets, sec. Playfair). The base of the body, which is rectilinear or slightly curved in lateral view, is shown in profile with a hull giving it the appearance of a ship’s keel; this hull is formed by the more or less significant acumination of the bottom of the body.

Dimensions: Playfair: L = 133 µm; Width 100 µm; pseudostome 36 µm; keel: width 72 µm; height 13 µm. Thomas et Gauthier-Lièvre, 1959: L 132-135 µm; width 115-120 µm; pseudostome 35-38 µm; thickness 75-85 µm.

Ecology: Freshwater. Australia, Madagaskar.
