Lesquereusia epistomium Penard, 1902

Diagnosis: shell slightly compressed, colorless, ovoid or circular with a distinct long neck. Test composed mainly of curved, siliceous rods and occasional mineral grains. Neck very sharply distinguished from the rounded shell and very abruptly turned to one side. Aperture roughly circular, surrounded by siliceous rods. Rods thick, short. Rods disposed as in L. spiralis, but reniform and stouter.

Dimensions: Length 90-160 µm.

Ecology: Sphagnum, peat bogs. Europe, America, Africa.

Remarks: This species is similar to L. spiralis but can be differentiated from it by the elongated neck and more circular body.
