Lesquereusia modesta

 

Lesquereusia modesta Rhumbler, 1895

Diagnosis: test colorless, circular with an asymmetrical neck, slightly flattened laterally, primarily composed of mineral grains, but also composed of a mixture of siliceous rods and mineral grains. Test often with a Difflugia-like appearance. Neck short and broad, slightly turned to one side. The aperture is terminal circular and bordered by siliceous rods or small particles of quartz.

Dimensions: Length 109-174 µm.

Ecology: in mosses like sphagnum and in detritus. Species feeding on diatoms and green algae.
