Nebela pechorensis Kosakyan et Mitchell, 2012

Diagnosis: The test is colorless or slightly brownish, tear or drop shaped, with a protruding narrow neck, slightly compressed laterally, with small lateral pores (number of pores can vary). The test is composed of small particles likely obtained from preys (i.e. euglyphid testate amoebae), which are often covered with a thin layer of organic cement. The aperture is oval, linear.

Dimensions: length: 84-92 µm, breadth: 54-69 µm, width of aperture: 19-23 µm; neck 6.2 ± 0.9 µm high (n=10).

Ecology: Peatlands, in Sphagnum.

Remarks: Nebela pechorensis by shape very much resembles N. guttata, from which it differs only by the linear aperture. Despite the similar morphology, these two species are clearly genetically different (sequence divergence up to 12%). See Kosakyan et al., 2012.
