Diagnosis: Amoeba a much flattened cylinder, monopodial or branching, usually with an anterior hyaline cap; length-breadth ratio often 4 or more; surface folds and wrinkles often present; uninucleate, with granular nucleus in known species; surface coat of discrete filaments radiating outward from plasma membrane; no crystals.
