Diagnosis: radial scales (2.5-8 µm) non-striated, lacking transverse ribs, shaped like many moss leaves with a broad rounded, sometimes almost flattened, base and mid rib extending into a long drawn out tip, the end of which is distinctly bent to one side; dense thickening at base of midrib close to or almost at the base.
Plate scales (2-4 µm) broadly oval with central axial ridge, but no radial furrowing.
Type locality: River at Amoundi Beach, Crete, Greece.
