Trachelocorythion pulchellum

Trachelocorythion pulchellum (Penard, 1890)

Diagnosis: shell ovoid, compressed; aperture slit-shaped with a short collar, one lip slightly longer than the other one; shell composed of oval siliceous scales, hardly visible; aperture region with much smaller scales; aperture scales not denticulated; nucleus vesicular, with central nucleolus; filopodia.

Dimensions: Penard 20-30 µm; 23-35 by 15-20 µm; aperture 7-10 by 3-4 µm

Ecology: In mosses, sphagnum and soils.
