Turriplaca muticata (Nicholls, 2013)
Diagnosis: Cells about 13 µm in diameter (one whole cell measured) covered in plate-scales and spine-scales. Plate-scales circular, 2.3-2.5 µm in diameter with a narrow rim and a series of 5-8 small or poorly developed holes in the distal surface. Spine-scales narrowest (about 0.3 µm) near the flared distal apex which consists of usually four, divergent, blunt-tipped projections. Spine-scale shafts widening near the base which consists of a circular pad with a concave bottom, 0.5-0.9 µm in diameter. The base of the spine shaft has a series of up to 5 small holes (about 0.7 µm in diameter) just above the circular base. Spine-scale total length 1.4-3.0 µm.
